In 1974, Johnny and Jimmi Byler started a company called R&A Supply Co, Inc. in their small 2 bedroom apartment in Irving, Texas. The "R"&"A" stood for Rivets & Anything else they could sell. The company was incorporated through the help of friends and family members who bought stock in Johnny & Jimmi and their vision.
With very little capital and a lot of determination Johnny ran the company while Jimmi painted & sold artwork. All the profits of the company were plowed back into the rivet business to buy more inventory. Johnny warehoused and sold rivets from the back of his camper covered pick-up during the day. At night, he invoiced customers, paid bills and kept the books. He was the purchasing agent when stock was needed, the accountant when there were bills to pay, and an engineer when there was a fastener problem to solve. He was and is a true entrepreneur.
In the years to come, the Bylers raised two children, Kate and John. They both attended Texas Tech University and presently work in the family business. In 1985, J. Byler Rivet Supply, Inc. was founded. Jimmi started J. Byler Rivet Supply with the belief that she could sell rivets over the phone. She has done that and more.
In 1999, R&A Supply, Inc. and J. Byler Rivet Supply, Inc. were merged to the present company, Byler Rivet Supply.
